Tenshi Editorial Photos

About the project

In the winter of 2026, Toronto Hyperpop producer and DJ Tenshi approached me to request a comprehensive photoshoot to visually capture his sound/vibe for use in upcoming promotional content.

Having only previously used graphic design to represent his work, I had the privilege of building Tenshi’s first official promo shoot.

Provided with specific ‘y2k style’ photo references by the client, and given total creative control over the rest of the projects execution, I meticulously planned two shooting days which would visually capture the exact kind of timeless urban cool he was looking for.

Mixing the urban grit and liminal energy of spaces such as Union and St. Patrick Station, as well as Play De Record (legendary among Toronto Dj’s), three unique photo sets were created that have now come to define his latest ‘era’ across Instagram and Spotify.

Creative Process

Serving as sole Creative Director and Photographer on this project, I was responsible for all planning, development and execution of the shoot.

Beginning with an initial consultation with the client where he shared inspirations, photo references and his expected outcomes, I got to work by planning lensing, lighting, and locations that would compliment the specific aesthetics he was looking for.

The attached references also directly influenced the locations where we chose to shoot. Imposing urban centres and underground transit turnout to be both highly accessible and stylistic choices enhanced the final product overall.

Upon delivery, these photos were applied to Tenshi’s official Spotify page, where they served as a new profile picture and official image on his artist biography.

These photos were also posted on Instagram to drum up hype for upcoming shows, where they routinely gained hundreds of likes and thousands of views.
